About SBI Mutual Fund

SBI Mutual Fund is one of the well known asset management companies in India. It offers a wide range of mutual fund schemes across equity, debt, hybrid, index and solution oriented categories. Investors can start a SIP in any of its open ended schemes with a small monthly amount.

SBI Mutual Fund is a joint venture between State Bank of India and Amundi, and is among the largest fund houses in the country by assets under management.

How does the SBI SIP calculator work?

This calculator uses the standard SIP formula that applies to all mutual fund SIPs, including SBI Mutual Fund schemes. It assumes you invest at the start of every month and returns are compounded monthly.

M = P × [ ( (1 + i)^n − 1 ) / i ] × (1 + i)
  • M = Maturity amount
  • P = Monthly SIP amount
  • i = Monthly rate of return, worked out from the yearly rate as (1 + yearly rate)^(1/12) − 1
  • n = Total number of installments

Example: A SIP of ₹5,000 per month in a SBI Mutual Fund equity scheme for 15 years at an expected 12% return gives a total investment of ₹9,00,000 and an estimated value of about ₹25,00,000.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum SIP amount in SBI Mutual Fund?

Most SBI Mutual Fund schemes allow a minimum SIP of ₹500 per month. Some schemes accept even lower amounts. Check the scheme information document for exact details.

Does the SBI SIP calculator give guaranteed returns?

No. The calculator gives an estimate based on the return rate you enter. Mutual fund returns depend on the market and are not guaranteed.

Can I stop my SBI Mutual Fund SIP anytime?

Yes. You can stop or pause a SIP at any time without penalty. Exit load may apply if you redeem units within the exit load period, usually one year for equity funds.

Which SBI Mutual Fund scheme is best for SIP?

The right scheme depends on your goal, time period and risk appetite. For long term goals, diversified equity or index funds are common choices. For short term goals, debt or hybrid funds are safer. Consult a SEBI registered advisor if unsure.

Is a SIP in a bank mutual fund different from other SIPs?

No. A SIP in SBI Mutual Fund works exactly like a SIP in any other fund house. The bank name refers to the sponsor of the asset management company, not to a bank deposit.
